Cyclo-cross Racing

For many years Iceni Velo has been at the forefront of cyclo-cross racing in Norfolk. We aim to host at least one event per year, and have used venues such as Broome Heath (Ditchingham) and World Horse Welfare (Snetterton) in the past. Our 2024 event was at Old Buckenham Country Park and was very well received.

The club actively encourages all club members who want to give cyclo-cross racing a go. We support all age groups, from under-12s to veterans of 40 years or more.

Women's Racing

It's quite a team

Here are the women who raced at the club's latest event in 2024, after a race that started at 13:45 and lasted around 40 minutes. Big smiles and all in one piece!

Everyone has been so welcoming. You just ride at your level and race against yourself and the people around you, with no pressure or expectation! You can run and push for anything too technical. And don't worry about fitness - the race in itself is good training. It is humbling and a real laugh.

If you like hooning around off road, you'll love CX. Don't worry about shouldering your bike up vertical slopes, there's none of that. Yes, the front is competitive but you'll be at the back unseeded and can have a gentle pootle! And the best bit? If you do fall off, it's always a soft landing.
