New, from October 2023: a taste of adventure with Iceni Velo...
A monthly adventure ride focused on social self-reliant, multi surface riding. Emphasising exploring over the average speed or distance.
Much like the Sunday Club Ride (which will also be running in addition to this new [ad]venture), we will depart from Chapelfield Gardens on a circular route. Leaving at 8:00 / 8:30am (please check specific event) and returning around midday. Predominantly off-road but not solely for mountain bikes. Any bike that can take a little rough stuff and tyres that can grip. Routes will range from 30-50 miles, (50-80km).
The ability to carry not only tools and tubes, but also a jacket and some snacks is going to make life more pleasant. Rides may not always encompass an official café stop so being able to carry some snacks or a hot drink would be good. Of course we can take advantage of impromptu shop stops etc.
Occasionally we can travel a little further a field to explore new roads. This will entail some lift sharing. So join in your cycling community, offer a lift or see if others can take you. Don’t be shy it’s always fun riding together.
Routes and potential stops will be shared in advance (via our members Facebook and Strava groups). These will be a no-drop rides but a reasonable level of fitness is expected to partake in these events.
